In March 2022, the Government of Israel passed GR-1297, the second five-year socio-economic-development plan for Bedouin society in the Negev, budgeted at NIS 5.2 billion. Overseen by the Ministry of Welfare, this plan is larger and broader than the previous plan and benefits from lessons learned. Still, socio-economic gaps and implementation challenges in Bedouin society are vast. On May 11, 2022, IATF hosted a foundation forum call with Sigal Moran, Director of the Ministry of Welfare, and Leah Briskin Berko, head of Youth and Society in the Ministry’s department for socio-economic development of Bedouin sociey in the Negev. This was the powerpoint they presented.
