The Druze in Israel: A Less Persecuted Minority?

The author discusses Israel’s policy of co-option of the Druze minority, which has met with only marginal resistance by Druze elements. Notwithstanding this policy, the Druze are presented as being subjected to the same political, social, and economic discrimination as the rest of the Palestinians. The author is uncertain whether the growing awareness of discrimination and the ongoing resistance of the Palestinian population will undo the effects of co-option.
