Gaps in Public Health in Arab Society

While mostly absent from GR-922, focus on the issue of health in Arab society was already rising prior to COVID-19 and is now very much on the forefront of government, medical establishment, and civil society discussion. We will look at gaps in services, health literacy, cultural adaptation, and workforce development; how these intersect with existing socio-economic development priorities; and how the pandemic affected related efforts.

The IATF hosted Shlomit Avni-Vaknin, Director of the Policy Planning Division at the Strategic and Economic Planning Administration of the Ministry of Health and Dr. Fahed Hakim, Director of EMMS Nazareth Hospital, for a discussion on the work of the ministry’s new division on closing health gaps, which focuses on Arab society, and gaps being addressed by the largest facility serving Arab society.
