IJIL - The Institute for Joint Israeli Leadership

IJIL - The Institute for Joint Israeli Leadership

The Institute for Joint Israeli Leadership (IJIL) is a pioneering initiative of dozens of educators and social activists, representing the entire Israeli society – Moslems, Christians, Druze, Bedouins, orthodox and secular Jews who, through their daily endeavors, meet Israeli reality as reflected through the eyes of the younger generation. This generation is unfamiliar with the various sectors of the population and influenced by slogans that shape the existing discourse in the country: a divisive discourse that promotes constant fear and existential threat. We believe that creating an active group of Israeli educators and social activists, and expanding relations among the different sectors of Israeli society, while relating to the uniqueness of each group, will create a better Israeli society. It will also build a generation of young leaders that spearhead a common discourse combining activism for producing a shared Israeli society. In order to deepen acquaintance among the sectors in Israeli society and tear down the barriers of alienation as a way to generate change, we chose to train and foster a future leadership with shared values among young men and women, from high school graduation through higher education and beyond. A population forming its identity and choosing its direction in life, therefore best equipped to be the future educational, public, cultural and social Israeli leadership. IJIL's activities aim to create an active group of Israeli educators and social activists committed, together, to shape the face of Israeli society. IJIL wishes to deepen acquaintance and expand relations among the different sectors of Israeli society, with special attention to the various groups, and to give a rightful place to each of them. The Institute will work to cultivate and grow a young leadership, offering assistance and guidance whether for military or civilian service, and providing guidance for academic studies and empowerment for social involvement.
