The first section contains a review of several opinion editorials on two central topics: (1) the status of the Arabic language in Israel, a Jewish national state; and (2) language and identity in Arab society. The second section of this issue contains policy positions and items from the media on a wide range of aspects concerning the status of Arabic in Israel and the connection between language and identity in the Arab society in Israel, including opinions on the declining status of Arabic as an official state language.
