The NorthTech Career Expo, a hi-tech job fair in Sakhnin, was held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. Organized by Rayan Employment Centers, managed by Al Fanar Organization and NorthMed Innovation Center, this event attracted 18 leading companies in the technology and industry sectors, providing a platform for job seekers and employers to connect. Around 250 attendees from the North and the Triangle region shows the potential within the Arab community for high-tech integration,
The NorthTech Career Expo aimed to create exposure and opportunities for Arab community members by connecting them with major technology companies. Participants included notable firms like Nvidia, Johnson & Johnson, and Medtronic, as well as local Arab companies such as Afifi Group, HAAT, Salla, Sigma Labs JRS, and Galil Software.
Al Fanar, through Rayan Centers and other programs, is dedicated to integrating Arab citizens into Israel’s economy, with a strong emphasis on employment. Ayman Saif, Chairman of Al-Fanar, highlighted the importance of the expo, stating, “The goal of the tech career exhibition is to display job vacancies offered by the largest high-tech companies in the country for Arab engineers from the North. Ultimately, the goal is to integrate young people into these companies and put our Arab community on the high-tech map in the country.”
The NorthTech Career Expo supports the GR-550 five-year plan to integrate Arab academics into the labor market through innovation centers and programs. Hassan Tawafra, Director of the Economic Development Authority noted the value of direct communication between academics, graduates, and companies: “This interaction in such exhibitions can help in networking and building strong professional relationships and increase employment opportunities.” He emphasized that the fair helps companies attract highly qualified, specialized graduates, boosting economic growth and employment within the Arab society.
Hussam Abu Mokh, Director of Rayan Centers in the North, emphasized the continuous efforts to economically empower the Arab community: “We appreciate all the companies that accepted our invitation and invested in the Arab community by participating in the exhibition.”
Lena Kanaaneh, Manager of NorthMed Employment Center, stressed the importance of the expo as a bridge between leading global and local companies in the hi-tech sector and talented individuals from the Arab community. “The exhibition is not just a one-time event, but rather a step towards building a personal career plan for all participants in the exhibition. This includes introduction to the network, professional preparation for job interviews, and personalized guidance.”
