Israeli Arab Members of the 15th Knesset: Between Israeli Citizenship and their Palestinian National Identity
The author discusses the increasingly tendency of Israeli Arabs to identify themselves as a Palestinians and not as Israelis Arabs. Perhaps the first indication of such a trend is the political behavior of Israeli Arab members of the 15th Knesset (the Israeli parliament), who have, since the October 2000 events, demonstrated a unique type of Palestinian nationalism: Israeli Palestinian. The author states that the State of Israel is also beginning to recognize the development of a new Palestinian people – a segment of the Palestinians with unique characteristics and a strong emphasis on its uniqueness.
