From Sedentarization to Urbanization: State Policy towards Bedouin Society in Israel

The author explores various strategies employed by the state of Israel in attempt to settle the Bedouins in permanent settlements, including forced settlement in permanent villages, and abrupt urbanization. The author illustrates the state???s use of planning as the major tool to control territories and people, often in contradiction to traditional planning goals or improvements in the standard of living of its citizens.
