07/09 Jewish-Arab Relations on Israeli Campuses
Since October 7th and the onset of war, academic institutions in Israel have grappled with heightened tensions between Jewish and Arab students and faculty, much of it on social networks. While campuses remain largely calm, administrators are challenged to balance freedom of expression, respond to security concerns, and foster an inclusive and shared community space. How are they navigating these challenges, and what implications do they hold for the future of shared campuses?
On July 09, IATF hosted a discussion with two senior higher education professionals responsible for promoting shared life in Israel’s major academic institutions:
Prof. Mona Khoury, Vice President for Strategy and Diversity, The Hebrew University, Jerusalem
Dr. Yosepha Tabib-Calif, VP for Strategy and Academic Programs, Rothschild Partnerships, and Director of Gisha in Academia
