Apr 29, 2012 5:00pm - 10:00pm

On Sunday April 29, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. IDI's George Shultz Roundtable Forum (http://www.idi.org.il/sites/english/events/TheGeorgeShultzRoundtableForum/Pages/Roundtable-Bedouin-Settlement.aspx) will host a high level discussion of the Memorandum on the Negev Bedouin Community Settlement Law, which is designed to regulate Bedouin settlement in the Negev. Minister Benny Begin, Justice Eliezer Goldberg, and Mr. Ehud Prawer of the Prime Minister's Office will participate in this event. Issues that will be discussed include: What is the relevant background for this discussion? What are the rights of the Bedouin to the land in question? What is the relation between the proposed memorandum and the Goldberg Commission's report on the Bedouin of the Negev? What is the Israeli government's plan for the unrecognized Bedouin villages? Is the solution proposed by the memorandum fair and equitable? Does it ensure broad consensus in Israeli society? Additional information will follow. This event will be broadcast live on the IDI website and will be available for viewing on the IDI YouTube channel.
