Friendship League and Team Building for Girls

Friendship League and Team Building for Girls

Based in the region of Galilee, this project is designed for ages 10-18 and builds on the Friendship League’s success in mobilizing women from communities across the Israeli periphery. The goal of the program is to bring together local girls from different ethnic and religious backgrounds through year-round events surrounding the catchball league. Participants take part in meaningful interactions between communities designed to break down cultural barriers; inspire; engage and empower; teach leadership, leadership and fairplay; teach girls their role as ambassadors for peace in and between their communities; and the value of sports in advancing positive relations. These events are slated to bring together more than 200 girls from Jewish, Muslim and Druze communities across the region.

Additionally, the program engages a special female guest speaker from the United States to provide an outside perspective for participants to learn from.

Friendship League in Culture and Sport
Israel is a highly diverse country, many communities live largely separate existences with few opportunities for sustained interaction between communities. The Friendship League was established to bring women—key bridgers and connectors—from Israel's various communities together, to interact and build connections through sports and culture.
