High school students discussing Jews-Arab relations in partnership with the museum of Islamic Arts
The program brings high-school students from Jewish-Israeli high schools to the Van Leer Institute for a day of lectures and discussions about different topics that relate to Jews-Arabs relations in Israel and in the Middle East. Students listen to a lecture given by a specialist, and then discuss their opinions. Among the topics offered: Arab citizens' rights in Israel; the history of the relationships between Jews and Arabs in Israel; the Arab Spring of 2011 and its consequences; Arab culture; two-states or one-state solution, etc. After discussing these issues at the Van Leer Institute, students attend a guided tour at the Museum of Islamic Art in Jerusalem bringing awareness to different topics, with the aim to raise political awareness and encourage civic participation.
This program runs in partnership with the Museum of Islamic Art in Jerusalem.
