CIE: The Israeli School Model
CIE: The Israeli School Model
CIE's flagship program "The Israeli School Model" aims to strengthen the establishment of schools' identity, autonomy, pedagogical methods, and evaluation methods in public schools across Israel. CIE has been operating this program for over eight years. This model has been implemented in 10 schools representing different sectors of Israeli society including the northern Bedouin village of Ibtin, Ras Ali, and Rahat in the south of Israel. The model is based on the four principles explained above, used in the best schools in the world.
The impact of the "Israeli School model" program is one of CIE's greatest successes, with the following results in Ibtin after three years of intensive work: a 20% drop in the level of violence among the students, a 23 point increase in science test scores, a sharp increase of 120 points in English test scores, and on critical thinking tests, the scores rose not only above the average in the Arab sector, but also above the national average.
CIE observed similar success after its implementation of the "Israeli School Model" in Beit Hakerem school in Jerusalem. After three years, the external evaluation demonstrated positive change along all criteria: a 40% increase in enrollment within 3 years, 23% average improvement in academic achievement, over 30% improvement in students' attitudes towards learning, and a 30% drop in violence in the school.
In the next five years, CIE aims to implement this program in 20 schools across Israel including additional schools in the Arab sector, alongside teacher training and workshops for parents. CIE aims to provide tools for monitoring and evaluation, professional support throughout the school year, private consulting for school principals, and establishing a professional support group for parents and teachers.
