Negev Coexistence Forum for Civil Equality (NCF): HUMAN RIGHTS CAMPAIGN project
The Human Rights Campaign project focuses on placing political pressure on the state of Israel to change its policies towards Bedouins by involving local and international stakeholders, delivering expert analysis on violations of human rights in the context of national and international law, and raising awareness among local and international publics on this issue. In pursuit of these strategic objectives, the NCF performs methodical narrative & visual documentation of human rights abuses in the Negev-Naqab, through field research and comprehensive record-keeping. Over the years, it has compiled a large body of evidence, published in a number of reports and positions papers annually. Additionally, its mapping initiative records location, history and living conditions of unrecognized Bedouin villages. Moreover, the NCF utilizes its research to pursue international advocacy, local lobbying & awareness-raising. Every year, it hosts 50+ tours and solidarity visits with foreign diplomats and Israeli public representatives and attends a number of seminars & conferences to present on the issue of human rights abuses in the Negev-Naqab. The NCF also organizes “home circles” in Jewish households to engage them in discussion on Bedouin rights and maintains a strong presence in social & mainstream media. Finally, the NCF sends Bedouin representatives to multiple international advocacy missions and publishes special reports on human rights abuses in the Negev-Naqab, which are submitted to the UN and the USA State Department. As of 2013, the organization was granted Special Consultative Status with the United Nations. |
