Rahat Foundation

The mission of The Rahat Foundation is to act as an institutional forum which allows Rahat's residents, along with public, private, and nonprofit actors, to collaborate in using a holistic vision to improve the city.

Our existence provides an answer to a gap in local organizational capacity that has long needed filling. Before The Rahat Foundation, no institution existed which approached the city's problems in a holistic and inclusive fashion.

Critical to achieving this mission is the participation and cooperation of the four aforementioned players: the public sector, including the local municipality and the Israeli government; the private sector, including local and outside businesses; the nonprofit sector, including local and national organizations and institutions; and, most importantly, the residents of Rahat themselves.

The Rahat Foundation is a non-Profit Organization committed in 2009 for building long-term community benefits for the life of people in Rahat City.

The Rahat Foundation was created to respond to the lack of a holistic vision for the city's future on the part of any of Rahat's existing institutional bodies. Rather than continuing to execute narrowly-focused projects that don't do enough to improve the overall standard of living in Rahat, the Foundation will take a bird's-eye-view of the city's challenges, and gather the necessary human capital together in order to address them in an organized, methodical fashion.

The Rahat Foundation views the participation of all levels of society-public, private, and nonprofit-as vital to an all-encompassing strategy. The Foundation will seek to partner with the municipality, local businesses and nonprofits, and other relevant actors, in order to efficiently design and carry out master plans for the city's improvement.

In order to further ensure this inclusive approach, the Foundation will also be made up of representatives from all of Rahat's varying communities who will report their communities' individual needs. All of these actors-Foundation founders, civil servants, business people, local and outside experts, and local representatives-will pool their expertise to create blueprints for change.

The Rahat Foundation is divided up into three branches: the project planning branch, the fundraising branch, and the administrative branch

Vision

Our vision is that Rahat transform into a city of opportunity, economic, cultural, and social-for the improved quality of life of its residents.

A more approach Rahat's challenges in a holistic fashion so as to develop a strategic and organized plan to provide greater social, economic, and cultural resources for all of the city's inhabitants, thus improving their quality of life.

Goals

1) Creation of project planning teams made up of local actors and outside specifialists that research, design, and execute projects in a variety of fields, including social welfare, employment, education, youth activities, cultural resources, environmental sustainability, and infrastructural development. This organization will operate according to the belief that cooperation between Rahat's inhabitants and the three aforementioned sectors-public, private, and nonprofit-is crucial to success.

2) Empowering Rahat's inhabitants to become agents of change, and Creation of a 'bank' of local volunteers and services so as to promote positive interaction and skills-sharing amongst residents.

3) Expansion of the business sector's involvement in local improvement by encouraging investment-financial and otherwise-in the Foundation's operations/projects.

4) Harnessing the public, private, and nonprofit sectors to work towards Rahat's improvement.

5) Raising funds for the Fund's operations and projects from local, national, and international donors, and establishing partnerships with relevant individuals and institutions.
