The Task Force on a Strategic Plan for Philanthropic Investment in Arab Society Empowerment in Israel was established in order to determine the needs and commission position papers on the problems and lacunae in Arab society in Israel, while prioritizing the issues and areas appropriate for strategic philanthropic investment. Initially, two basic areas were identified: a) the aims and structure of the Arab Education System as it addresses issues of identity of Arabs as a minority group in Israel and their Israeli citizenship; b) educational leadership - the current state of Arab educational, leadership training and development, and the gap between the training leaders receive in relation to the particular needs of Arab schools. A breakdown of the issues under these two areas has been specified at length by the Task Force, and a series of recommendations have been made. In the course of this research, all of the NGOs addressing issues of education, leadership development and the realm of socio-economic issues among Arab society in Israel were mapped and taken into consideration in the recommendations made to date, and will serve as a resource in proceeding with recommendations for further philanthropic investment in areas of public leadership and socio-economic development.
