The Leket Work Project addresses food waste and exploitation in Israel's agricultural sector. Through the project, Table to Table employs 20 Israeli Arab women to glean excess produce left by farmers to rot in fields and orchards. The women, who traditionally suffered from exploitation at the hands of work contactors from their own village, are Table to Table's employees. They are paid above minimum wage and receive social and health benefits.
Each gleaner rescues an average of 825 pounds of produce per day for distribution to Israel's needy.
