This program, funded during the 2007-08 school year by the Cellcom Corporation, includes two school choirs from the Jezreel Valley (one religious and one secular) and two choirs from schools in the village of Yeffia, located on the outskirts of the city of Nazareth.
Participating choirs learn a repertoire of songs in Hebrew and Arabic and meet together once a month at the Jezreel Valley Center for Music where they rehearse as one combined choir. The individual choirs also visit each other's schools for rehearsals between meetings.
One hundred children, ranging in age from third to sixth grade, currently participate in the project, representing four choirs in total. During the month of June the combined choir will present a year-end concert for parents and members of the community. The center is seeking funding to include more schools in the combined choir project.
