JDC-ISRAEL: Day Centers for the Elderly

The day centers are primarily intended for senior citizens who are suffering from functional deterioration. Services are intended to enable the senior and his family to enjoy the benefit of support services, to postpone and/or prevent the senior from being placed in an institutional framework and to enable him to age in his home and natural surroundings. The day centers, many of which are located in Israeli Arab municipalities, are usually defined as social frameworks with health and therapeutic emphases. The centers are operated by local associations for the aged as controlled professional systems, under the supervision of the Ministry of Social Affairs’ Service for the Aged.
