Du-Drama - The Youth Program

Du-Drama is a year-long leadership program for 25-30 direct beneficiaries, Jewish and Palestinian teenagers in the 9th or 10th grades (14 thru 16 years old) from two neighboring schools.  The program coincides with the academic year.  Du-Drama is co-facilitated by one theater professional and group facilitator (one Palestinian and one Jew).   Weekly meetings take place at the two schools on an alternating basis.  The program includes 2 weekend seminars, the first for team-building and the second for rehearsals. Taking the Show on the Road

Each group in the Du-Drama produces a bi-lingual play in Arabic and Hebrew (either adaptations of classical texts or new original plays) which are performed for student audiences four  times each year by each group  (2 shows per school visit, reaching 500 audience members each). The actors prepare themselves for an inter-active workshop with student audiences that conclude each performance.
