The Association for Civil Rights in Israel: Promoting the Rights of the Negev Bedouins

Works with Bedouin citizens in the unrecognized villages to address discrimination they face through litigation, advocacy, public outreach and community empowerment.  ACRI’s work has focused on (1) building and planning rights, (2) access to public services, and (3) gaining recognition for unrecognized villages. ACRI’s successes in this area include: a Supreme Court petition which pushed the Ministry of Health to establish more health clinics for Bedouin citizens; persuading the government to recognize the previously unrecognized village of Drejat; and ensuring inclusion of the Bedouin voices in the planning processes that affect them.  The program works closely with the Bedouin community to determine their needs, and to help them obtain the tools to advocate for themselves.
