Nazareth-Academic Institution

Nazareth Academic Institution (NAI) - the first college in Israel established by the Arab community and accredited to give its students B.S.c and B.A. degrees - is committed to excellence in higher education for students of all faiths in the State of Israel - Muslim, Jewish, Christian, Druze - as a means of promoting peace in the region. In the classroom and in all areas of student life, NAI encourages respect and reconciliation between Israelis of Arab and Jewish heritage through a commitment to non-violence, economic betterment, and mutual understanding.

Located in Nazareth, NAI provides an academic centre close to home to population who needs this service - first among them the 250,000 Arab citizens who live in the city or its proximity.

Based on market research, NAI offers subjects in which there is market demand: Chemistry, Communication (both subjects approved by the Council of Higher Education and open on 1 November 2010), and Occupational Therapy and Computer Science (submitted for approval), aiming to help its graduates to find job in a work market that is biased in favor of the Israeli Jewish population.

Focusing on Peace Studies and Peace Leadership Skills such as negotiation and mediation, in its general education core, NAI trains its students to become Peace Leaders.
