New Israel Fund: The National NIForum 2008

On September 21, 2008 the New Israel Fund held its national annual symposium, the NIForum, at the Kimmel Center at NYU. The event offered progressive supporters of Israel opportunities to interact with the leaders and activists who are shaping contemporary Israeli society.

This year, the NIForum focused on the next wave of social change in Israel. Individuals joined the New Israel Fund for a day of dialogue about Israel's toughest social, political and cultural issues. They also heard from a new generation of activists using innovative strategies – in the courts, the media, the corporate sector and in communities – to create a more just and equitable Israel.

Participants included Naomi Chazan, Fathi Marshood, Eliezer Yaari, Neta Ziv, and others. The NIForum concluded with This Israeli Life, a special program of readings and storytelling by American Jewish writers on the Israel-Diaspora bond in all its complexity.
