II. Tuesday, November 10 - Workshop

Time: 8:00 AM - 9:30 AM
Location: UJC General Assembly, The Marriott Wardman Park, Washington, DC

Title: Strengthening Israel from Within: Opportunities and Challenges with Integrating the Arab Community into the Israeli Economy

Israeli government, philanthropy, North American Jewry and Israeli civil society join together to address the urgency of Jewish-Arab relations in Israel and the benefits and needs for inclusiveness versus alienation.  The integration of the Arab community into the Israeli economy is one of the greatest opportunities and challenges for Israel. This session will explore the interface between education and employment as the "bottleneck" for economic advancement of the Arab minority. Representatives from Israeli government, NGO's and philanthropists will share innovative strategies for preparing college graduates and professionals to enter the workforce, and for promoting small business development with a special focus on women that will ultimately result in thriving families, communities and a healthier economy.
