Join Tsofen's Executive Director Smadar Nehab and Chairman of the Board of Directors Ramzi Halabi for a screening of the hit TV series Arab Labor on Saturday, November 13 at 7:15 pm at Cinema Village, 22 East 12th Street, New York.
"Tsofen - High Technology Centers" advances the integration of Arab professionals into Israel's hi-tech industry by working to open hi-tech centers in Arab communities. Today, Arabs comprise less than 500 of Israel's 85,000 hi-tech engineers. Even the most qualified Arab university graduates face barriers that prevent them from entering the hi-tech industry, and that also reflect Israel's greater socio-political climate. Most of our candidates were never granted interviews for jobs to which they applied, or if they were they were turned down on the basis of "unsuitability." Tsofen's work connects Arab professionals to the hi-tech industry, as well as helps them bridge some of the cultural barriers that block them on their way.
Similarly, Arab Labor, created by Israeli-Arab journalist Sayed Kashua, humorously depicts the cultural and social challenges facing Israel's Arab citizens as they try to find their place in Israeli society but are continuously rejected.
Join us for a chance to see this groundbreaking comedy, as well as to meet Ramzi and Smadar and find out more about Tsofen's work.
