Fall Study Mission: Israel Through a Different Lens
November 9-14, 2011
The Mideast is changing at breakneck speed, and with it the landscape of Jewish-Arab relations in Israel. Travel with The Abraham Fund to learn about the reality and hope of Jewish-Arab relations during this time of rapid change...up-close-and-personal.
[Program in formation - details subject to change]
- Visit Arab towns and villages in Northern Israel and the Negev - a slice of Israel few have the chance to experience, and one you'll never forget
- Learn about economic development efforts to place unemployed Arab women in their first-ever jobs, and to help Arab university graduates enter the high-tech market
- Participate in one of The Abraham Fund's unique shared cultural encounters between Jewish and Arab schools in the Galilee, and learn how we are preparing an entire generation of young Israelis to live in a multicultural society
- Travel to the Negev by train, participate in a guided Jeep tour of unrecognized Bedouin villages, visit a traditional Bedouin women's weaving cooperative, and learn about efforts to balance the complex issues of Bedouin land rights and Negev development
- Take a guided walking tour of the ancient and modern mixed city of Jaffa - study the interface of Arab and Jewish populations, and the complexities of gentrification
- Enjoy Saturday at leisure in Tel Aviv -- on the white sand beaches, visiting museums and galleries, or wandering the fashionable shops and boulevards of Israel's most vibrant city
- Join Abraham Fund Board members from Israel, the US and Europe in Nazareth, to debate the most pressing challenges in Jewish-Arab relations with top Israeli Jewish and Arab leaders, government officials, policy makers and experts
