Dr. Elie Rekhess is one of Israel's leading experts on the Arab minority in Israel, Jewish-Arab relations, Palestinian politics, and the Islamic resurgence in the West Bank and Gaza. He teaches courses on modern Israel and the Middle East at Northwestern each year, usually in the spring quarter. He also serves as Senior Research Fellow in the Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies Tel Aviv University, as the head of its Program on Jewish-Arab Cooperation in Israel sponsored by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, and on the faculty of its Department of Middle Eastern History.
