Micha Beer Sheva - Society for Deaf Children: Early Diagnosis
Micha Beer Sheva, in cooperation with social workers from the Abu Basma Regional Council, nursery stations for newborns, Soroka Medical Center, Ashalim, the Joint Distribution Committee, and other institutions in the community, has begun a pilot project for early identification of children with hearing disabilities. This comes as a response to the subnormal level of diagnosis of hearing disabilities in the Bedouin community.
In addition, it is established that the earlier treatments are initiated, the greater the chances of successful treatment, to the point of closing the language gap in 4-5 years. Given advance technological background in the area of amplification and in innovative methods of rehabilitation, it is important to identify hearing disabilities as early as possible so as to begin rehabilitation immediately.
