NAPIS (National Pediatric Injury & Surveillance System)
NAPIS (National Pediatric Injury & Surveillance System)
In 2012 a pilot program will be launched of collecting child injury related data from medical clinics in Arab communities. It is understood that the majority of injured Arab children are treated within the community and do not reach emergency rooms due to the peripheral location of the communities and distance from major health centers. Absence of valuable information on child injuries prevents us from providing an appropriate response. Analysis of the information received, will be used to focus programs for local implementation with regard to specific issues relating to each community or region. The first pilot will be launched in Majdal Shams, a Druze community in Northern Israel. Nurses from the local clinic will undergo a training program and will be educated with regard to the importance of NAPIS analysis and the benefits that could be achieved by the program.
